REDE group will coordinate the "Sherpa do Mar" project, one of the proposals funded in the 2nd POCTEP call, and in which UVigo is the Lead Beneficiary.
The University of Vigo has obtained funding for 12 research projects from the second call of the European Interreg VA-Portugal Cross-Border Cooperation Program (POCTEP) 2014-2020. This call has stood out for its high competitiveness, with only 33% of the projects submitted approved.
"Sherpa do Mar" is one of the three projects in which the University of Vigo will act as Lead Beneficiary, is endowed with almost 1 Million Euros and will be coordinated by the REDE group. Among the 12 projects financed, it is the second in terms of FEDER funds raised for UVigo.
The main objective of Sherpa do Mar is to create and boost a Euroregional platform (Galicia-North of Portugal) to promote competitiveness in the marine-maritime field through the promotion of technology-based companies with high added value. To this end, the existing technological-scientific synergies will be strengthened and the creation and consolidation of new business activities intensive in knowledge in the maritime-marine area will be encouraged. These actions will favor, in turn, the promotion of innovation, the generation of employment and the increase of business competitiveness.
