The REDE research group participates in the presentation event of the TRANSFIRESAUDE project
On the 27th of June, the presentation of the
TRANSFIRESAÚDE project was held in Chaves, Portugal. This project aims to promote the adoption of advanced artificial intelligence technologies in the health services of the Galicia-North Portugal Euroregion and strengthen the integration of the cross-border research ecosystem. Universidade de Vigo, through the
REDE research group, will play a key role, addressing such important challenges as the ethical governance of artificial intelligence in the health sector and the optimization of organizational processes in primary care.
The opening session was addressed by Francisco Melo - Vice president of the Municipality of Chaves; Antonio Fernández-Campa García-Bernardo, Manager of the Axencia Galega de Coñecemento en Saúde (ACIS); Emilio Martínez Rivas, Coordinator of the Scientific Promotion and Strategy Area of the Vice-rectoría de Política Científica of the USC; and Antonio Sartal Rodríguez, Principal Investigator of the TRANSFIRESAÚDE project at the University of Vigo.
During the event, the different work packages of the project were presented by its coordinators José María Romero Fidalgo - Director of the Area of Development and Health Innovation of ACIS, Fernando León Mateos - Doctor in Business Administration and Management and member of the REDE group at the University of Vigo; and Manuel Lama Penín - University Professor in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (CiTIUS).
The programme was completed with two thematic panels. The first one, focused on Technology, Innovation and Artificial Intelligence as a new paradigm in healthcare, counted with the participation of Carlos Rodríguez-García - Doctor in Business Administration and Management and member of the REDE group of the University of Vigo, Beatriz Figueiredo - Family Doctor at the Family Health Unit São Neutel, Local Health Unit Trás os Montes e Alto Douro and Marta Núñez-García - Maria Zambrano Researcher at the Singular Centre for Research in Intelligent Technologies of the University of Santiago de Compostela (CiTIUS). The second panel addressed a framework of analysis and research in personalised and precision medicine, with special emphasis on primary care. This panel included Pilar Rodríguez Ledo - Deputy Director of Humanisation, Quality and Citizen Care of the Lugo, A Mariña and Monforte de Lemos Health Area, Nadine Correia Santos - Researcher at the P5 Digital Medicine Centre and Rui Medeiros - Vice-director of the Research Centre of the Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Porto.
The TRANSFIRESAÚDE project is an initiative co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund ERDF through the Interreg V-A Spain-Portugal Programme (POCTEP) 2021-2027 and led by the Axencia Galega de Coñecemento en Saúde (ACIS). Three partners from Galicia (Universidade de Vigo, CITIUS and Eurocidade Chaves-Verín) and three from the North of Portugal (Instituto de Investigación de la Universidade de Porto I3S, Centro Clínico Académico 2CA Braga and Associação Centro de Medicina P5 ACMP5).
